Cees Heuvel (b. The Hague, 1954) has regularly shocked and amused readers at home and abroad with his razor-sharp pen and hilarious look at our world and the people in it. Not only with his black & white cartoons, but also with his life-sized oil paintings (described by one critic as 'Francis Bacon on wry'), and full-color lithographs in praise of, among other things, the Citroen DS and the space-time continuum. His sources of inspiration include Hieronymus Bosch, Edward Hopper, R. Crumb, Bianca Castafiore and Jacques Tati.
